Haaai, omatase itashimashita!!!

It´s been a while since we last got to see Mei, but here she is again. Life may not always seem sunny and nice for little Mei, but here she´s apparently having the time of her life, having been given the chance to work as a waitress at a little inn in a town somewhere. While she seems a little embarrassed at the attention she´s causing - not least thanks to that cute little outfit of hers - the guests seem to be (more or less) happy though, and so does the proud innkeeper, seeing his profits rocket. Too bad that the proportions in this drawing didn´t turn out as good as they should have done... I worked on this drawing during several weeks of my stay in Japan last summer (2000) and all in all it probably took at least a couple of months to get it finished, and it´s probably my most ambitious project yet. However, a drawing cannot take forever to finish so I settled for just a quick touch-up in Photoshop before I uploaded it. Please excuse the rough linework on that young couple in the background though; it was the result of an exceptionally crappy pen which I haven´t used since. Back to the gallery.
