Sitting and resting in between two successive exams, I suddenly felt the urge to make a drawing of laplander girl, and this is the result. I had thought about laplanders - the native population (and nowadays minority) of the area streching across the northern part of Sweden, Norway, Finland and the northwesternmost edge of Russia - and their costumes, for a while, and what I could do with their designs. Their clothes design is most clearly characterized by stripes of red and yellow on a clear blue background. This drawing doesn´t at all give their style justice, it´s just a monochrome view of a girls head and shoulders, but I definitly will make a larger and more complete drawing of the theme some day. Hmm, come to think of it, I might even do a colour version of this very drawing to show you what it oughta look like... Back to the gallery.
